======================================

A description of your current employer, your position, your duties and
responsibilities, and how they relate to current and future data
networking activities in your country*
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Internet exchange point (IXP) is a physical infrastructure that allows several Internet Service Providers (ISPs) and network operators to exchange traffic between their networks, generally referred to as autonomous systems, by means of mutual peering agreements, which allow traffic to be exchanged at no cost.
I am a Network/Communication supporting staff. I monitor the traffic exchange by the connected ISPs. I also, notify if there is a downtime in their network.
IXPN has gone far into making broadband available to all end-users and help i reducing the latency on their network. We are also into video-conferencing, e-commerce, content hosting to mention but afew.

A brief description of your computing and networking environment (operating systems,
networking software, modems, etc.), including the connectivity of your organization
to the Internet and your country's connectivity to the international Internet*

We use CentOS, Ubuntu(10.0.1),FreeBSD. The monitoring softwares are Nagios, Cacti, PRTG v7, MRTG.
